HEARTACHE WITH NEW BAND

Adam Lasus and Joey Sweeney at Studio Red

Hot on the heels of the 1996 debut solo release, Heartache Baseball EP (Delmore), former Barnaby's frontman Joey Sweeney is back with a Clubland Records 7" of all-new band recordings. Featuring the up-beat and rocking "Tiny Ships" and the slow country twang of "Friday Evening, Friday Night", the recordings are the result of a blurry, intoxicated and unique session which took place at Studio Red in the Spring of 1995.

Recorded in the Crab™ under the direction and guidance of Adam Lasus, Joey recruited several of his friends to back him and join the fun. Alex Kemp (Small Factory/ The God-Rays) assumed the duties on bass, Joel Schwartz (Matt Keating) anchored the band with his drum kit, and Andrew Chalfen came in on guitar and lap steel.

Looking back, Joey remembers "it was insane, when we started. Alex knew most of the songs, and we would teach them to Joey (Stone) one by one and record them as soon as he learned them and never play them again. It was a strange session." Ah, but very fruitful indeed.

Since that time, The Joey Sweeney line-up has undergone a few mores changes and appears to be settling. They are presently working on a new album (with Adam Lasus once more) for release in early fall, along with a series of supporting dates to follow.
